Preparing for Storms

Matthew 7:24-29 

The Message a paraphrase interprets some verses in Matthew 7. 7:1 “Don’t pick on people jump on their failures, criticize their failures.” 7:5 “Don’t be flip with the sacred.” 7:7 “Don’t bargain with God. Be direct.”7:12 “Here is a simple rule of thumb guide for behavior.” 7:13 “Don’t look for short cuts to God.” 7:15 “Be wary of false teaches who smile a lot.” 7:21“Knowing the correct password saying Master, Master.” These statements urge everyone who hears them or reads them. Take note and listen and take action. Matthew 7:24-29 Establish a firm foundation. Evaluate your options and Embrace Jesus teachings.

Establish a foundation for living.

Foundations create stability for what will be constructed. Foundations have strength or weakness.  Foundations are vital for a building’s survival. Foundations: unstable. Materialism: things are temporary. Pleasures attract our attention and brings temporary good feeling. Self we can build a life based on our abilities. Family: Philosophies of life.  Foundations of stability. Jesus laid out a clear solid foundation for us living in a broken world.

Evaluate your options understanding storms are coming. Matthew 7:25

Storm proofing is impossible. Beautiful scenic views and babbling creeks invite folks to build in dangerous places! Hurricanes, tornados, fires, earthquakes and floods are a reality and physical and spiritual storms are a reality. Solid Rock Jesus a relation with the creator God though faith in Jesus!

Embrace completely Jesus’ instructions. Matthews 7:28-29 

Back to the Message: “They had never heard teaching like this, It was apparent that he was living everything he was saying quite a contrast to the religious teachers! This was the best teaching they had ever heard.” Amazed at the clarity of Jesus words. Amazed at how Jesus lived out what he said. Amazed that words and life style meshed!

On a wall in a Nazi concentration camp. “I believe in the sun even when it’s not shining. I believe in love wen I feel it not I believe in God even when he is silent.” The foundation chosen by the individuals is important. The lost face storms with unstable foundation. Christians, however face storms with an eternal purposed reality. Christians has a solid rock for a foundation; Jesus. We have evaluated our options and chosen Jesus. We embrace the teaching of Jesus. What have you chosen as your foundation? Jesus awaits your choice
