What Makes America Great?
Proverbs 14:12-34
Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that seems right to man, but in the end, it
leads to death. ”What makes a nation great? Proverbs 14:12-34 outlines
values required to make a nation great. It requires the right kind of citizens,
right kind of institutions and citizens who embrace righteousness.
Right kind of citizens: Proverbs 14:12-33
God honoring: Proverbs 14:16 -19 a contrast of worldviews, attitudes and
direction. Good neighbors: Proverbs 14: 20-22. Good relationship with the
Lord produces security, refuge and life. Proverbs 14:26-27. Good self-
control brings understanding, peace and safety. Proverbs 14: 27-29; 32
Giving and sacrificial living: Faithful people with their possession. Proverbs
14:14. Faithful employees Proverbs 14:23-25. Faithful people of mercy
Proverbs 14: 31. Faithful discerning Christians have wisdom that is clearly
seen. Proverbs 14:33.
Right Kind of institutions. Proverbs 22:6; John 3:17
Homes that respect God’s Word and honors God. Proverbs 22:6 “Train a
child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not turn from it.”
Churches teach the Word of God without alternations. We recall Jesus’
mission John 3:17 “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn
the world, but to save the world through him.” Schools that teach and don’t
set values reserved for families. Business which honors the principles of
caring for employees and acting ethically with customers.
Right Citizens embrace righteousness Proverbs 14:34; Exodus 20:3-4; 2
Timothy 3:1-5; I Timothy 4:1-2; 1 Peter 2:22; Hebrews 4:14-16
Evil threats: Christian and righteousness of God. Five steps to human
righteousness 1) Adam and Eve created by God in the image of God good and
perfect. 2) Failing Adam and Eve disobeyed a single instruction of God. 3)
Jesus sent both divine and human perfectly fulfilling God’s law. I Peter 2:22
“He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth. Hebrews 4:14-
16 4. Imputed righteousness justification salvation where God declares the
believer righteous 5) Received righteousness sanctification being renewed
into the image of God. Sanctification progressive not be completed here.
Each individual placing their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and progressing
to become recreated into the image of God. It’s a message we must share. It’s
a message of hope, peace and hope. It’s a message of acceptance, mercy,
grace and love by God and Christians. Will you help make America great?
