Little Books Big Messages: Titus “Do Good Part 1”

Titus 1:1-2:10

Titus could be called a “pinch hitter, clutch player, a point man or today we may refer to him as a wing man! Titus has the qualities of a leader. He could be counted on. He knew what to do and how to get the job done. One theme of the letter to Titus is DO GOOD!  Doing good begins with a call to set things right. Character of a leader must be demonstrated. Challenges must be faced and the character of all believers must be representative of Jesus.

Call to set things right. Titus 1:1-5

Writer Paul a servant of God: doulos a bond slave. Paul’s authority to select and instruct those who will serve. Paul’s faith, knowledge and hope is grounded in eternal life. Paul acknowledged God the Good news was sent by God at a perfect time in human history.

Character of leaders must be beyond reproach. Titus 1:6-9

Blameless means to have nothing in one’s conduct which someone could base accusation. Blameless in family life. Husband of one wife and children who believe and don’t act like the prodigal son living wildly and disobedient. Blameless in personal life. Positive and Negative:  Blessed qualities of spiritual leaders.

Challenges outside and inside the Church. Titus 1: 10-16

Rebellious people talkers and deceivers. Ruin the Church by their teaching,  Rebuke and silence them sharply. Their mind and consciences are corrupt. They make calms of knowing God. Remind people to not listen to them.

Character of all believers must to taught. Titus 2:1-10

Teach sound doctrine healthy actions. Teach older men. Respect is earned. Teach older women live reverently. Teach young men to be self-controlled. Teach slaves (employees) to submit to their employers. Make the teachings of Jesus live.

Do Good! Set things right because the soul of individuals is much too valuable to loose. Do Good by being the leader God has called you to be! The demands are high, but God has entrusted the message to us to carry forward. Accept the challenges when they arise in the fellowship that will harm and diminish the truth of the Gospel. Do Good and seek to correct and convert those who have become useless to God. Do Good and teach all in the fellowship to live Godly lives. The message of God’s love is need now in our community. Do Good now!
