False Teachers Masters of Deception
2 Peter 2; 2 Timothy 4:3-4; Revelation 20:11-15; Joshua 24:14-15
Peter addresses the very dark reality of unbelief driven by deception. The reality of frightening judgement awaiting evil and the rescue of believers. Three things I want you to know without a doubt when we leave worship today. 1. Know you are in a relationship with God because you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. 2. Know your personal witness of sharing the God’s love is vital to lost family member and friends. 3. Know personally God loves you and invites you to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord.
False teachers then and now.
Tools of deception: Destructive heresies: 2 Timothy 4:3-4 Tools used by individuals, organizations, even faith groups. Materialism is motivation by money and acquiring things. Lust and adultery: corrupting human natural desires. Pride and arrogance: no responsibility except to yourself. Blasphemy: Undermining the things God is doing. Seducing people who are unstable. Boasting sounding impressive, but offers nothing. Hypocritical promising freedom but delivering bondage.
Frightening Judgement
Rebellious Fallen Angels held in a gloomy dungeon. Rebellious ancient world: flood. “if he did not spare the ancient world” Genesis 6:5-7:19 Rebellious Sodom and Gomorrah burned made them an example of the result of ungodly living. Genesis 18: -19:29. God was available but …..
Faithful Rescued
Noah protected in a boat God directed him to build. What is your ark of safety? Lot preserved while living in a evil place. Evil at first shocks. Then numbs finally, blinds. Lot was led by God to make a clean break.
Rescue or Ruin is Peter’s message! What is your choice. Accept God’s love! Receive Jesus! Grow in your faith and share Jesus.
