I am a Church Member Part 2

Part 1 Review: Two types of Church members: Country Club join to be served or
Joined to serve others. Our focus is on joined to serve others

Brief Bible Study in I Corinthians 12-14

The First Century Church at Corinth was very confused about what it meant be a
follower of Jesus. They were Christians but did not know what that meant or
how they should relate to each other. They were a part of a group we will refer
to as the Church meeting in Corinth. The Greek word for Church meant the
“called out ones”. Jesus followers were called out of the world into an eternal
relationship with the Lord. It was a new relationship they had entered. What did
that mean?

I will be a functioning Church member

Each member is a necessary part of the Body. I Corinthians 12:12-14; 27-28
Here’s the picture: Members of a church comprise the whole and are essential
parts of the church. God has placed you here to make a difference! Listen and
God will reveal your opportunities for service.
Each member is different but we all continue to work together. I Corinthians
12:26 Montgomery Heights Baptist (The Heights) has a banner that say’s “We all
in this together.”
Each member has to do its work or the whole body struggles. There is a beauty
in the diversity in the midst of unity in church membership. The Bible is clear
one part does not do its job, the whole body does not function well. God will
provide you with the strength do your service.
Each member’s actions are based on the Biblical foundation of love. I
Corinthians 13. Church membership is founded on authentic, biblical
unconditional love.
Only one out of three church members are functioning church members! Prayer:
“Lord how can I best serve my church?” Never ask if you should serve! Be a
functioning member it’s that simple. With God leadership and help my pledge:
