Lessons from Soldiers

Psalm 18:30-35; Matthew 10:34-39; I Timothy 6:11-16; 2 Timothy 4:6-9

Charles Spurgeon wrote and said, “Peace will be the ultimate issue of the Lord’s coming but at the start the Lord Jesus sends the sword among men.” War conflict and conflict are the result of sin. Rebellion against God’s plan for humanity results in distorted harmful actions resulting in war. Good men and women stand up resisting evil that’s why we raise armies and navies. Today we want to remember those who stood in the gap giving their lives and futures for those they would never meet. We have lessons from those soldiers. Fighting is sadly a part of life. Fighting is necessary, fighting can be good and fighting requires a willingness to be faithful even to death.

Fighting is a part of life. Psalm 18:30-35

Psalm 18:30-35 words of King David honors God with praise in Battle. God’s way is perfect. God is our shield. God is our rock and refuge. God is our strength and perfect. God is our trainer for battle. God is our provider for victory and He sustains. God broadens the path. God will not allow us to stumble.

Fighting is necessary. Matthew 10:34-39

Sword instead of peace challenges Isaiah 9:6 Prince of peace. Luke 2:14 as Peace on earth. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you. Separation: Matthew 10:34-39. Peace with God often divides families, friends and communities. Security of the Cross: taking up your cross means “commitment.”

Purse righteousness and resist evil. It’s our choice to make daily as society tries to drag us away from doing what is right. Presence of witnesses: People know what you confess live up to what we say. It’s not easy to follow Jesus, but it’s good to do. Preserve by keeping true to who you are in Christ. Just as Jesus did before Pilate when Jesus answered the question about who is. I AM it is as you say! Person of God Jesus who will return as King of Kings

Keep your faith in all situations. Believers are never without the ability to resist because God’s Holy Spirit resides within us! Keep fighting to the finish line by faithful holding on to eternal life which is to come. King of King and Lord of Lord knows our struggles and recognizes our faith!

Fighting is a part of life. God never meant for it to be this way. Fighting is hard, and necessary! Fighting is good because lives can be changed, Fighting may result in physical death because freedom of life and soul is never without cost.
